ROSE MISSION

At Rose School we work collectively to build an inclusive community which provides students with opportunities for choice, self-expression, and ownership of their academic and social learning.

ROSE VISION

By nurturing passions and promoting creativity we aim to build a collaborative community that values

academic excellence while empowering individuals to make a meaningful impact on the world.

Good Morning Rose Community,

Parent-Teacher Conferences - Information was sent home with your student last week about signing up for your parent-teacher conference and parents should have received a message through the Rooms App. Please sign up for your 20 minute conference.  Our teachers have a lot of important information to share with you about your student and their beginning of the year progress. Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9. Reminder, there are no classes on these two days.  If you have any questions, please call the office.

PTA General Meeting - There will be a PTA general meeting this Wednesday, September 30, in Room 24 at 5:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend! Please join us as we plan and support school activities for all students. Light refreshments will be provided. If you cannot join us in person, we would love to have you Join the PTA Virtually.

Picture Day - Picture Day is this Friday, October 2.  Please ensure your student arrives at school on time and ready to have their picture taken.  Teachers will be following a schedule to ensure everyone is photographed on time.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Mobile Communication Devices - Please see the attached board policies regarding mobile communication devices. Device Restrictions: During the entire school day, both in and out of the classroom, all mobile communication devices, including but not limited to smartphones, smartwatches, and headphone/earbuds, must be:  1) Powered off   2) Kept out of sight

Gifted and Talented Education Program - EUSD is pleased to continue to offer the Gifted and Talented Education program. For GATE identification, all 2nd-grade students will have the opportunity to participate in universal screening in November. In addition, parents and teachers may recommend students not previously screened in grades 3 through 8 to be screened for GATE eligibility. Parents can pick up the Parent Background and Input Form in the school’s front office beginning October 5, 2026 and must return the forms by October 24, 2026. A school team will review requests and determine which students will be eligible to be screened in November. For more information, please visit our district website or stop by your school office.

Early Dismissal Thursdays - Quick reminder that students are dismissed at 12:15 every Thursday. Please ensure your student is picked up on time.

Breakfast and Lunch Menus:  All EUSD students have access to no-cost breakfast and lunch.  Families can view our new online menus.  Select your school and menu to see what is being served every day.

Tardies - A wonderful new school year just began and we need your support as we are experiencing many students arriving late.  It is vital that students arrive at school on time.  Arriving late a few minutes makes an impact as they miss out on key instructional time and missed opportunities such as breakfast and classroom routines at the start of the day.  In addition, as part of our Every Day Counts attendance campaign, students with outstanding attendance help their class earn rewards and are entered into drawings for prizes. Please make an extra effort to ensure they are dropped off on time.  We thank you in advance for your support.

Parking Lot Exit - As a reminder, during arrival and dismissal, drivers may only turn right out of our school parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation and support regarding this very important expectation.

Join our PTA! - Our fabulous PTA needs your support! Membership is $10 per family and flyers were sent home last week.  The PTA, or the Parent Teacher Association, is a network of parents, teachers, administrators, and community volunteers devoted to the educational success of our students and the promotion of family engagement in our school. The PTA sponsors and organizes family events, plans fundraisers, and funds programs such as art assemblies.  In every endeavor, our PTA volunteers work together to enrich the lives of our students.

Serving on School Committees - Parents, are you interested in getting involved in any of our school committees?  We have a variety of committees that need parent support.  Here are a few of them:

*School Site Council (SSC) - The School Site Council is a shared decision making body composed of parents, classroom teachers, other personnel, and the Principal. School Site Councils are required by the State of California to oversee our school's Site Plan and Title I budgets.  Its main responsibility is to monitor the School Site Plan which reflects our school's educational goals and its main strategies for achieving those goals for all of its students. Members of the School Site Council are elected by a nomination process and generally serve a two-year term.

*English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) - The primary purpose of ELAC is to advise the school principal and school staff regarding the instructional programs and support services for English Learners. ELAC is also responsible for advising the School Site Council (SSC) and reviewing the Site Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

*Community Schools Advisory Committee - The CSAC is an advisory group that weighs in on implementing the community school model and collaborates with district staff, students, families and community members.  They will oversee the implementation of the EUSD Community School Implementation Grants awarded by the California Department of Education (CDE).

Stay Connected - The EUSD mobile app is your one-stop shop for messaging teachers, receiving classroom updates, and keeping up with school and district news and events. The free “EUSD Escondido CA” app is available for download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Simply sign in using your phone number or email address. See the Rooms Resources for Families page (English) | Rooms Resources for Families page (Spanish) for step-by-step instructions. Returning families must update to the latest version of the app, either by deleting and reinstalling it or by updating through your app store. For more details and instructions on staying connected, please visit our Stay Connected in EUSD webpage.

Resources for Food Assistance -

We want to make sure families are aware of local resources that offer free food and support for those who may need it. Here are a few options available in our community:

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need help connecting with these resources.

That is all for now - have a great week!
